Bihar : Protest for electricity turns into shocking death of protesters due to police firing

Protests for improvement of electricity in the Katihar district took a toll when a youth was killed in police firing. The incident took place near the Sub-Divisional Officer’s (SDO) office in Barsolai, where civilians clashed with the police department resulting in three critically injured. As the death of one was received it has also been mentioned that the toll may rise.

The protesters stuck to their problem of not having sufficient electricity when the situation escalated and clashes broke out between the locals and the police. Some individuals while protesting being hurdled by the police turned aggressive and restored to stone-pelting, leading to a violent situation.

As a response to the action the police took a step by restoring aerial firing during the clash, resulting in the immediate death of an individual. Reports came that two more youth died while their ambulance was enroute to the hospital. As of now it has been informed that more casualties are there, the numbers of which are yet to be released.
