The state government of Government of West Bengal (through its administrative center Nabanna) has officially published the holiday calendar for 2026. According to the notification, government employees \u2014 including staff of all departments, educational institutions and other organizations under the state \u2014 will get a total of 56 holidays throughout the year.<\/p>\n

\"\"For the festival of Durga Puja, offices will remain closed from Chaturthi through to the day after Lakshmi Puja \u2014 giving a continuous 12-day holiday period.<\/p>\n

During Lakshmi Puja, employees get two days off. Since Lakshmi Puja 2026 falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will also be a holiday.<\/p>\n

For Kali Puja, a total of three days will be holidays. As Kali Puja falls on Sunday, the state has extended the holiday to Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The festival Chhath Puja also gets observance: the government has granted an extra holiday for Chhath Puja \u2014 though the article notes that the date coincides with Sunday next year.<\/p>\n
