As per her pre-announced schedule, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the Singur ground, accompanied by Ghatal MP Dev, from the very beginning, her speech was delivered in a very high-pitched, aggressive tone. She started by saying, \u201cSingur is my favourite place. I stayed here day after day. I held on to this soil. I went on a 26-day hunger strike.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the event, a total of 1,694 services were inaugurated and foundation stones laid across various districts, involving an expenditure of \u20b933,551 crore. Speaking about the Banglar Bari housing scheme, Mamata said, \u201cEarlier we built 1 crore houses. Recently, 12 lakh families were given benefits, and today money will be credited directly to the bank accounts of 20 lakh people. That means in just two months, the number has reached 32 lakh.\u201d She alleged that the Centre did not contribute a single rupee and added that the remaining beneficiaries would be covered in phases. \u201cWe have rebuilt houses destroyed by disasters. \u20b924,180 crore has been allocated for the Banglar Bari project,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Referring to Ghatal, The Chief Minister said that MP Dev had repeatedly raised the issue with her. \u201cWhenever there was flooding in Ghatal, I rushed there. Water released from DVC used to flood Bengal. I wrote letters to the central government for 10 years, but received no response. So we decided that even if the Centre doesn\u2019t give funds, we will.\u201d She announced that the Ghatal Master Plan had been launched with an allocation of \u20b91,500 crore. \u201c\u20b9500 crore has already been released, and work worth \u20b9300 crore has been completed,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Taking at large to the BJP, Mamata said, \u201cI don\u2019t believe in a double-engine government, we have a people\u2019s government. As long as we are in power, schemes like Kanyashree will continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also highlighted industrial development in Singur, stating that an Agro-Industrial Park has been built on 8 acres of land at a cost of \u20b99.20 crore, with 25 out of 28 plots already allotted, creating significant employment opportunities. \u201cNot by grabbing farmland, but by allowing agriculture and industry to coexist,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a private industrial park is coming up on 77 acres in Singur, where major warehouses of Amazon & Flipkart will be set up, generating employment for thousands.<\/p>\n
