



Dengue cases are increasing in several states of the country. So far, many people have died due to dengue. The governments of all states are on high alert, after a spike in cases. Meanwhile dengue cases in Kolkata is getting deteriorated, due to the widespread of the DEN2 virus. With the latest data, the state government has revealed that the outbreak is the most severe in several years. According to the reports from the state health department, the total number of confirmed dengue cases in West Bengal has surpassed 26,000 highlighting the seriousness of the situation. The most concerning aspect here is the rapid rise in numbers within a span of 12 days. North Parganas district, which is adjoining Kolkata bears the highest number of dengue cases in the state. As of September 10, the cumulative count of individuals affected in the current season so far was
15,272. However in mere 12 days , this number has surged to exceed 26,600.Addressing the precautions taken by the state to manage this challenging situation in the forthcoming period, the Deputy Mayor of KMC Atin Ghosh stated that the Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s (KMC) Health Department has cancelled the leaves of all the staff members for upcoming two months. Acknowledging the worsening situation state authorities have indicated that steps are being implemented to curb the spread of the highly contagious DEN2 virus. They have cautioned that there is an anticipated increase in cases in the upcoming days due to the changing weather conditions.
