Kolkata | October 23, 2025:
A shocking incident of sexual harassment has been reported from SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where a 15-year-old girl was allegedly harassed by a man posing as a doctor.
According to police sources, the minor had visited the hospital’s outpatient department for treatment on Wednesday afternoon. The accused, pretending to be a doctor, lured the girl into the trauma care centre and allegedly took her inside a washroom where the incident occurred.
After the girl raised an alarm, her family immediately informed the hospital authorities and lodged a complaint at Bhowanipore Police Station. Acting swiftly, Kolkata Police traced and arrested the accused from the Dhapa area later that night.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had earlier worked temporarily at Shambhunath Pandit Hospital and occasionally visited SSKM Hospital, taking advantage of his previous connection to gain entry.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are investigating how the accused managed to access restricted areas inside the hospital.
Hospital authorities have assured full cooperation with the investigation and stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for negligence in security.
