A shocking incident has emerged from Krishnanagar during the Jagaddhatri Puja immersion ceremony, where on-duty army jawan Sandeep Kundu was reportedly subjected to brutal and inhuman torture by a police officer identified as ASI Chintu.
According to eyewitness accounts, even after Sandeep Kundu identified himself as a member of the Indian Army, the alleged assault continued unabated.The incident has sparked widespread outrage, raising serious concerns about the safety, dignity, and respect of armed forces personnel in the state.
Representatives of the Bengal Ex-Servicemen Forum visited Sandeep Kundu’s residence to express solidarity with the victim and his family. The forum assured full support and pledged to escalate the matter to higher authorities.
In a formal appeal, the forum urged the Chief Minister of West Bengal, the State Police Minister, and the Leader of the Opposition to take swift and appropriate legal action against the accused officer, ASI Chintu. News United India ,Spoke to an officer who was present there today, Mr Biman Singha, who also condemn the insident and also want proper action for the government with a strong punishment too .
The forum further warned that if, 
no concrete action is taken promptly, they will organize a statewide movement, similar to their earlier protests held at Red Road and Gandhi Statue, Esplanade, demanding justice and accountability.
Photographs from the incident show Sandeep Kundu, an award-winning soldier recognized by senior Army officers, bearing visible injuries, including severe trauma around his eyes — allegedly inflicted by the accused ASI.
