Political tension escalated in West Bengal on Wednesday after the Trinamool Congress suspended Beldanga MLA Humayun Kabir for announcing the construction of a “Babri Masjid replica” in Murshidabad. The party accused him of violating organizational discipline & making statements that could incite communal tension.

A few days ago, Kabir declared that on December 6th 2915 — The Anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition — he would lay the foundation stone for a replica of the historic structure in Beldanga. He claimed the project would serve as a “symbol of communal harmony.”
