Renowned author & former All India Radio child artist Ms.Sarbani Ganguly unveiled her latest literary work, Album, a curated collection of four evocative fictional stories that explore the layered realities of womanhood, memory & emotional resilience.
Ms.Ganguly, who began her artistic journey under the mentorship of stalwarts like Partho Ghosh & Gauri Ghosh, has long been admired for her expressive storytelling & deep emotional insight. As someone who lent her voice to radio programmes inspired by literary giants such as Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay & Rabindranath Thakur, her early experiences have profoundly shaped her narrative identity. A student of History, she draws great inspiration from Ashapurna Devi, a connection reflected in her sensitive portrayal of women’s inner worlds and social circumstances.
Her new book Album presents four compelling stories.
Prothom Jiboner Bhalobasha, The journey of Tomosha, whose experiences of love evolve across three life phases. A tale of innocence, strength, & rediscovery, it resonates with the universal emotional journey of women. The story is also set to be adapted into a feature film titled Naina.
Album — A mysterious romance spanning a century, centered on Samantha Rodrigues. Set against the historical backdrop of an old pandemic, the story weaves themes of time, memory & everlasting love.
Thikana — A tender, atmospheric story set in misty hillscapes, following Sanjukta, soldier connected through a lost address & unfulfilled promises. It explores longing & the bittersweet beauty of remembered love.
1960 — Set in vintage Kolkata, this narrative follows Dr. Nikumbha Sarkar, whose life intersects with inexplicable, miraculous events that blur the boundaries between science and faith, echoing the nostalgic charm of a bygone era.
The launch was held in a renowned book store on 15th November 25, The event saw distinguished attendance, including Ms. Ekaterina Tyurina (Vice-Consulate), Russia, Mr. Maxim Kozlov, Mrs. Natalia Gerasimova (Consulate General) & Actor, Ms.Richa Sharma, who graced the occasion as special guests.
With Album, Sarbani Ganguly once again captures the tenderness, strength, and complexities of women’s emotional landscapes, offering readers stories that feel both intimate and universal.
