In a startling development, a member of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s family has reportedly been summoned for a hearing under the SIR- SPECIAL INTENSIVE REVISION,  process of the voter list, triggering widespread criticism and debate.
According to sources, Chandra Kumar Bose, grand son of Sarat Chandra Bose and grand nephew of legendary leader- Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Convenor of The Open Platform for Netaji, Socio-Political Activist, former Vice President of BJP, West Bengal, who contested the Assembly elections in 2016 from Bhabanipur and Lok Sabha elections from South Kolkata in 2019, secured 4.17 lac votes,stated that his name already exists in the 2002 SIR list. Despite this, he has been called for verification in the ongoing SIR hearing.
Talking to News United India,Sri Chandra Kumar Bose, expressed his disbelief saying, “My name exists in the 2002 SIR — still I have been called for the hearing.” He further added sarcastically, “Netaji’s grand-nephew also needs authorisation for Indian citizenship — which direction is India moving?” He, however, fully cooperated with the EC and stood in the queue for over an hour to appear for the hearing at the City College in South Kolkata.
