New Delhi|2nd March 2026:

The Aam Aadmi Party has written to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat seeking the removal of Sri Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader of the party in the Upper House.

In a significant organisational move, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has removed Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha, signalling a reshuffle in its parliamentary leadership strategy.

According to official communication sent to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, AAP not only requested Chadha’s removal from the deputy leader’s post but also asked that he should not be allotted speaking time from the party’s quota in the Upper House. The development is being seen as a notable internal adjustment within the party’s parliamentary functioning.

The party has proposed Ashok Mittal as the new deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and requested the Secretariat to formalise his appointment at the earliest.

Sr,Chadha, has been one of the prominent young faces of AAP who has played several important roles since the party’s early years alongside Arvind Kejriwal. He served as the party’s national spokesperson and later became its youngest treasurer after the 2015, Delhi Assembly Elections. In 2020, he was elected MLA from Rajendra Nagar & also served as vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board.

In 2022, Chadha entered the Rajya Sabha as one of the youngest members of the Upper House. Over the years, he worked closely with senior party leaders such as Manish Sisodia and Bhagwant Mann in strengthening the party’s organisational  parliamentary presence.

While the party has not publicly detailed the reasons behind the decision, the leadership change indicates a shift in AAP’s parliamentary strategy ahead of upcoming political developments…
