A deeply emotional situation has come to light from Kolkata, where long-time political worker Yagnik Agarwal, popularly known as “Billu,” who is very popular in South Kolkata is currently hospitalized and battling a serious blood-related illness, reportedly without the support of many people he once worked alongside for years.
Billu, who is physically disabled & works as a Rapido driver to support himself, has been associated with political activities at the grassroots level for a long time, especially during earlier organizational periods. Despite physical challenges, he remained active in protests, campaigns, meetings & party programs, often standing at the frontlines alongside fellow workers.
According to people who know him personally, Billu participated in several demonstrations over the years and even faced false police action during protest movements. His commitment & presence during difficult political phases earned him recognition among local workers & supporters.
Today, however, as he undergoes treatment in hospital at Medical College, stones throw away from 6,Murlidhar Sen Lane, ( bjp party office) for a serious blood-related condition, with kidney related problem, many close to him say he is facing this difficulty battle largely alone. Supporters & residents are expressing concern that a grassroots worker who spent years contributing his time and effort is now struggling without visible support from many of those he once stood beside.
Friends say that despite his physical disability and financial challenges, Billu continued working as a Rapido rider, remained connected with organizational activities whenever possible. His story is now raising emotional questions among locals about how long-serving grassroots workers are remembered during times of personal crisis. None from the party leadership nor workers are beside him.
Well-wishers across the area are praying for his recovery and hoping that those who shared years of struggle with him will come forward to stand beside him in this difficult moment.
