Kolkata|9th January 2026:
One of Bengal’s most iconic jewellery houses, B. Sirkar Johuree, unveiled its much-awaited Annual Calendar 2026 in a grand and glamorous fashion showcase held at The Tollygunge Club on Monday, 6th January 2025 in the evening, the event stood as a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary design, marking another milestone in the brand’s illustrious legacy that dates back to 1884.
Renowned for its exceptional artistry and uncompromising quality, B. Sirkar Johuree has long been regarded as a benchmark of fine jewellery in Bengal. Often compared to legendary masters like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci for its creative brilliance, the brand continues to attract loyal patrons through its iconic showrooms at Bowbazar and Elgin Road.
The calendar launch was highlighted by an exclusive fashion show, featuring leading Kolkata models and presented in two distinct segments.
The first segment showcased a new lightweight, modern designer jewellery collection, reflecting contemporary aesthetics blended with refined elegance—ideal for everyday luxury and effortless sophistication.
The second segment revealed the Heritage Jewellery Collection 2026, featuring richer and heavier designs that paid homage to traditional craftsmanship while embodying timeless grandeur. All designs presented during the showcase were unveiled for the first time at the event.
Adding star power to the evening, actor and brand face Nusrat Jahan graced the runway as the showstopper, captivating the audience with her poise and elegance. The event was hosted in the presence of the brand owners, Sree Sirkar and Joydeep Sirkar, who warmly welcomed guests and shared insights into the brand’s journey and future vision.
B. Sirkar Johuree’s legacy is deeply rooted in resilience and innovation. During the challenging era of the Gold Control Act in the early 1960s, the brand became the first jewellery house to restart operations by pioneering 14-carat gold ornaments. It was also among the earliest to introduce hallmarking, encouraging customers to return for assured purity—an initiative that helped set industry standards.
International recognition followed soon after. In 1977, the brand was among only 12 jewellers selected to represent India at the Kuwait Festival, marking the beginning of India’s gold jewellery exports. This was followed by participation in exhibitions across New York, Japan, Dubai, Malaysia, Munich, and the prestigious Sonar Sansaar Jewellery Exhibition in Kolkata. The brand also earned global acclaim when members of royal households acquired its celebrated Ratan Choor.
Further strengthening its prominence, B. Sirkar Johuree became an active member of GJEPC, participated in the IIJS Signature Show, and collaborated with renowned designer Sharbari Dutta for a fashion showcase at Taj Bengal.
Among its many accolades are the Nirayat Shiromani Puraskar (2006) and the Gem of India Award (2004) awarded to Bireshwar Sirkar.
Beyond jewellery, the brand’s cultural legacy was enriched by Bireshwar Sirkar’s contribution to Bengali music, composing iconic songs such as “Brishti Brishti Brishti” and “Ke Jaane Ko Ghonta”. His musical journey was posthumously honoured when Lata Mangeshkar released an album featuring his unreleased compositions.
Under the visionary leadership of Sree Sirkar, daughter of the founder, the brand expanded its footprint through franchising across Midnapur, Durgapur, Malda, Tamluk, Siuri, Bagnan, Coochbehar, and Katwa. A respected authority in jewellery design, she has been a regular participant at national jewellery shows and has served as a guest lecturer and examiner at NIFT.
With a distinguished corporate clientele including Airtel, Hindustan Lever, Balmer Lawrie, and Indian Oil, the Annual Calendar Launch 2026 emerged not merely as an event, but as a tribute to enduring excellence—where tradition seamlessly met innovation, and heritage found expression through contemporary elegance.
